Willenfield Literary Agency is currently accepting queries for fiction, by email only, from prospective clients. Please send a complete submission package comprising a standard query letter, a detailed synopsis or chapter-by-chapter outline of the novel, and the first two chapters of the manuscript (or the first 30 pages if the novel is not divided into chapters).

Query letters should be concise and straightforward. Please include the following information: your name, contact information (phone number and email address), book title, word count, brief summary of the book, information about your intended audience and comparable titles, and a biographical note that includes prior publications, residencies, awards, etc. The synopsis should be sufficiently detailed, providing the full scope of your novel, from beginning to end. Most importantly, it should state very clearly how the story ends.

Please send your submission to as a single DOC, DOCX or RTF file not exceeding 2MB. PDFs will not be accepted. The submission file must include the title of your book and your last name. For example: The Beginners_Robson. To ensure your submission doesn’t get mistaken for spam by our system, the subject line of your email should read as follows: Fiction Query — Book Title — Your Last Name.

You will receive an auto-response via email confirming receipt of your submission. We ask that you reply to this email only if you wish to withdraw your submission or have a competing offer to advise us of. Please do not call or email to check on the status of your submission.

Due to the large volume of submissions we receive, we regret that we cannot respond to all queries. If we are interested in your submission, you should expect to hear from us within 8 weeks. If more than 8 weeks have passed and you have not heard from us, you can assume that we are not interested in pursuing your project. Unfortunately, we do not offer editorial advice or feedback on rejected submissions.
